May 4, 1943 - June 26, 2025

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Woodrow “Woody” Miller Sr., aged 82, who left us peacefully on June 26, 2025, at his home in Milford, Delaware, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on May 4, 1943, in Shinnston, West Virginia, Woody devoted his life to serving others and cherishing his family.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Woody served his country with honor and integrity for nearly 23 years. His commitment to service continued as he embarked on a rewarding second career in civil service with DECA at New River Air Station, where he dedicated over 30 years.

Woody’s greatest joys came from being a loving dad to Debra, Derek, and Woody Jr. He was a treasured grandpa to Gabriel and an ever-cherished brother to Linda, Marsha, Marlinda, and Donald. He now reunites with his beloved siblings, Joseph and Norma, along with his devoted parents, Birch and Leatha Miller.

Known for his warmth and generosity, Woody was a great friend to many, and his kindness touched the lives of all who knew him. He had a passion for reading, particularly history, which reflected his inquisitive spirit. An avid collector of coins, jewelry, and guns, he found delight in exploring the stories each piece held. Woody's legacy of service, humility, and compassion will forever inspire those fortunate enough to have crossed his path.

He is preceded in death by his father Birch, mother Leatha, brothers Joseph Eugene and Donald, sister Norma, and beloved Ms. Fifi.

Arrangements are entrusted to Berry-Short Funeral Home in Milford, Delaware. A celebration of Woody’s life will take place on August 15, 2025. For details, please reach out to the family directly. In honor of Woody's remarkable spirit, donations may be made to Delaware Hospice, St. Jude Hospital, your local SPCA, or the “Children’s Healthy Eating on Weekends” program at Richlands Piggly Wiggly.

Woody’s light will forever shine in the hearts of those who love him, reminding us of the profound impact he made during his time with us.
