William L. Foxwell, Sr., known as Bill — Foxy was born on April 12, 1936, in Smyrna, Delaware. He passed away peacefully at his home that he built in Milford, Delaware, on June 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

A devoted husband to Elizabeth “Betty” (Walls) Foxwell. They were married for 65 wonderful years. Together, they enjoyed countless adventures, including many camping trips with family and friends and winters being snowbirds in Jensen Beach, Florida.

Bill was a lifetime member of the Ellendale Volunteer Fire Company. He dedicated his professional life to carpentry. He worked for several local Building Contractors, before retiring he was self-employed.

Known for his laugh and onery personality. Bill was an on-the-go kind of man. He had a natural inclination to help neighbors and friends with tasks around the house. His love for family, fishing, camping, traveling and tending to his vegetable garden. Bill found true joy in the simple pleasures of life including Friday night happy hour and breakfast at Westside Restaurant and spending time with his family.

Bill leaves behind a cherished family that includes his loving wife, Betty; his daughter, Vickie Foxwell (John); his son, William Foxwell, Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Christine; and his grandson, Michael Foxwell (Lori) and granddaughter Mason Foxwell. Each member of his family carried a piece of his spirit, reflecting the values and warmth he instilled in them.

He will be missed by his loved ones and all who had the privilege to know him. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Virginia (Bailey) Foxwell; his sister Lucille Ranshaw; and his brothers Wilson and Walton Foxwell; and Clarence and Susan Webb, the ones that raised Bill.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Bill's life at Berry-Short Funeral Homes in Milford, Delaware. A viewing will take place on June 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 12:00 PM. Bill will be laid to rest at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery in Frederica, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be sent to: Ellendale Volunteer Fire Co. at PO Box 5, Ellendale, DE 19941; or to Delaware Hospice at 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
