Chief Master Sergeant William Frederick "Fred" Eason, a beloved family man and dedicated serviceman, passed away on July 23, 2025, at the age of 68. He was born on December 18, 1956, and had a life replete with remarkable achievements and cherished memories.
Fred's educational journey began at Dover High School, from which he graduated in 1974. His commitment to serving his country led him to enlist in the United States Air Force Reserve in March 1977. Over the years, he excelled in various roles, including C-5 Aircraft Instrument Tech, C-5 Guidance and Control Technician, and ultimately Superintendent of the 512th CMS Squadron, where he was promoted to Chief Master Sergeant in 2004. He retired after an honorable 36 1/2 year career in 2012. His dedication to his military career was recognized with multiple awards, including the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Air Force Achievement Medal with four bronze oak leaf clusters.
In addition to his military service, Fred had a passion for golfing, a hobby that brought him joy and relaxation throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rebecca Eason; and his daughter, Logan, whose memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey (Anderson) Eason; and three children, William Eric Eason (Rachel), Ashley Wallace (Shawn), and Brittany Dye (Brandon). Fred was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren, Eric Jr., Chase, Greyson, Colton, Madeline, Emelia, Brandon Jr., and Brooks. He is also survived by his two siblings, Beth Buchanan (Butch) and David Eason (Patti).
Words can not express how grateful the family is for the compassionate care given to Fred by his hospice nurse, Nicole Parsons Lowe, and his hospice care team.
Fred's legacy will be celebrated during a visitation on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. A memorial service to follow at 2:00pm. Both services taking place at Short Funeral Services, 609 East Market Street, Georgetown, Delaware. It is an opportunity for family and friends to gather and share their love and support during this difficult time.
Flowers are accepted, and the family also encourages contributions to be sent to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, Delaware 19963.
