William H. Cubbage III

Feb 3, 1959 — Aug 12, 2026

Frederica

William H. Cubbage III, 67, of Frederica, Delaware, passed away on August 12, 2026. Born February 3, 1959, in Milford, Delaware, Bill was a lifelong Delaware resident.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Donna Cubbage; his mother, Frances Benson; his sons, William Cubbage IV, and Kevin Cubbage; William IV’s wife, Stephanie; grandchildren Dylynn and Dominik Cubbage; and Dominik’s girlfriend, Jessica Brown. He is also survived by his Uncle Jim Cubbage, his sisters, Carol Brown, Donna Legates, and Linda Watkinson, her husband Joe, Donna’s son Robert Cubbage, who was like a third son, his wife Christine, and their son Ryver; Linda and Joes daughters, Fawn, Brooke, and Meadow Watkinson.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Cubbage Jr.; Aunt Dorothy Pratt; and Uncle Wilson Pratt.

Bill worked in construction for more than 40 years. He was mechanically minded and could fix or operate just about anything. Legend has it, he could scratch the shoulder of one of the laborers with the bucket of an excavator.

A true outdoorsman, Bill spent many years hunting with his dogs and enjoyed fishing, crabbing, trapping and gardening. He had a wealth of knowledge about the outdoors, knowledge that some would say could rival Daniel Boone and Davey Crockett. He took pride in the skills he had learned over the years. He was always happy to share those skills and even walk you through the garden to show you his prized tomatoes or pole beans.

He also enjoyed softball, bowling, and golfing with his sons and friends. He was a longtime fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, and there was rarely a shortage of opinions when it came to his teams.

More than anything, Bill enjoyed time with his family and friends. He had a strong personality, a quick opinion, and a straightforward way of saying what he thought. But he also had a generous nature and was the person you could call when someone needed a hand, or when you simply needed someone to show up. He will be remembered for his loyalty, honesty, sense of humor, and the lasting friendships and family bonds he built throughout his life.
