HOUSTON – William Brenton Herd, known by many simply as “Brent”, age 39, of Houston, Delaware, passed away peacefully at his home on December 6, 2025.
Born in Milford, Delaware, Brent was the son of the Tamara Gallagher Herd and William “Bill” Herd. Brent brought light, and laughter to everyone he met. His sense of humor and his generous, welcoming nature made him unforgettable.
In the community, Brent was well-known and loved—many fondly recognized him as the familiar face connected with several local Dairy Queen locations. He was also recognized at many restaurants owned by Big Fish Grill Restaurant Group. His friendliness, and charm made every visit a little brighter for those who crossed his path.
Brent cherished the simple moments spent with the people he loved. He had a gift making people feel so comfortable with him, whether it was sharing a laugh, offering a listening ear, or showing up exactly when someone needed him. His presence made others feel seen, valued, and understood.
Brent leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and heartfelt connection. His absence will be felt deeply, yet his spirit will continue to shine through the many lives he touched. Though his time here was far too short, the love he gave and the memories he leaves behind will endure forever.
In addition to his parents, Brent is preceded in death by his grandparents, Barbara Gallagher, Donald F. Gallagher, Andy and Lenora Herd, and an uncle, James Herd.
He will be lovingly missed by his siblings, Bradley and Ashley Herd, Erica and Keith Bauer and Colby Herd; 6 nieces and nephews, Alexis Herd, Alexander Bauer, Adelaide Bauer, Addison Bauer, Anderson Bauer, and Ashton Bauer; grandmother, Sara Gallagher; three aunts, Joyce Herd, with whom he lived, Jane Herd, Susan Case, and their families; as well as numerous cousins, and extended family.
