Terry leaves behind a legacy of kindness, empathy, and unwavering love for his family.

Terry Lee Hixon, born on February 1, 1958, in York, Pennsylvania, passed away on July 10, 2026. His life of 68 years was marked by devotion to family, steadfastness in character, and a profound kindness that endeared him to all who knew him.

Terry’s story began in York, where he was born to Robert and Betty Hixon. From his earliest days, Terry was raised in a nurturing family environment that instilled in him the values of compassion and resilience. He carried these lessons with him throughout his life, sharing them generously with friends, relatives, and all whose paths crossed his. His respect and appreciation of nurses came from seeing how his mother worked so hard caring for others as a nurse. His father was a cook in the army; Terry had the same passion and used cooking to show his love to those around him. Terry enjoyed wrestling in his younger years as an athlete and then to watching his grandson wrestle was a proud moment he would never miss, cooking was his favorite place to be with a nickname his hunting buddies deemed him as "Tenderloin T", hunting with his daughter and grandson Logan, collecting baseball cards, refinishing furniture, and his love for landscaping and all the clients, men and women he worked with through the years. Terry loved growing things. In the mornings, Terry would watch the sunrise and take a picture and share it with the ones he loved most. Always a reminder to slow down and take in the beauty of this world. 

Terry was a beloved father to three children; Kari, Toby and Shawn, the role of a father was one that Terry cherished deeply, and his guidance and love provided a strong foundation for his children. He found immense pride and joy in their achievements and cherished every moment spent with them.

As a grandfather, Terry’s heart belonged to his grandchildren: Logan Bortner, Brianna Bortner, Wesley Searle, and Aubrey Searle. He shared many special times with them, offering support and encouragement. His presence will be sorely missed by each of them, but his influence and love will be deeply felt through their lives.

Among Terry’s surviving family are his daughter Kari Fleck and her husband Jordan; and the mother of his daughter Kari and son Shawn Searle, Jayne Manning, who remained a cherished part of his family, his brother Jeffery Hixon, and his nephew Matthew Hixon and nephew; James Henry. His aunt and uncle Bill and Mary McCue and Bradley and Wesley McCue. Each relationship held its own unique importance in Terry’s life. He embraced his extended family fully, and his gentle spirit was a steady presence during both joyful occasions and difficult times.

Terry will be deeply missed by his beloved partner and wife Sue Manning who he loved deeply. 

He also leaves behind Sue's loving family, whom he embraced as his own and was called "New Dad" by Sue's daughters, Shawna McNamara and her husband, Teddy, and Heather Reed and her husband, CJ. He was a proud grandfather figure to Haley, Ronnie, Simon, and August Edwards; Bethany and Clayton Caudill; Kirstyn, Jon, and Emersyn Jones; Karleigh Lohrfin; Peyton McNamara; and Carter and Hadley Reed.

Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Hixon and Betty (Druck) Hixon, and by his beloved son, Toby Lynn Stottlemyer. Their memories lived on in his heart and brought him comfort throughout his years.

Terry leaves behind a legacy of kindness, empathy, and unwavering love for his family. The values he embodied...integrity, humility, and generosity—will be forever remembered by those fortunate enough to have known him. His passing marks the conclusion of a life well lived, but also the beginning of cherished remembrances that will endure in the hearts of his family and friends.

Terry's work throughout his life included, Preston Trucking, Nature's Helper Landscaping; his own landscape company, York Housing Authority and Sposato Landscape out of Delaware. Every client and everyone he worked with throughout the years brought him friendships he was lucky to call family.

Terry Lee Hixon’s life touched many, and his spirit will continue to inspire all who remember him. He will be deeply missed, never forgotten, and always loved.

*A celebration of life will be held at Midway Assembly of God in Lewes, Delaware on August 8th, at 11:00 am with a lunch to follow.
