Obituary

Suzanne Dill, a cherished member of the Milton community and devoted life partner, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, in Lewes, Delaware. Born in Milford, Delaware on August 22, 1962, Suzanne's life was a testament to resilience, strength, and an enduring spirit.

Despite a lifelong battle with cerebral palsy, Suzanne, affectionately known as Sue, defied expectations and embraced life with remarkable courage. She enjoyed dancing lessons, field hockey, playing the piano, and had a passion for basketball. A keen reader and devoted Christian, she regularly attended Bible study at Crossroads Church where her faith was a source of comfort and inspiration. Sue’s soul found peace by the water; she loved watching the ocean or bay with her toes in the sand and cherished moments spent listening to music alongside her beloved partner Vaughn at Paradise Grill.

An esteemed alumna of Indian River High School’s class of 1980 and West Virginia University, class of 1984, Suzanne was deeply engaged in her community. She was a proud member of Job's Daughters in Frankford, Delaware, and an active participant in the Daughters of the American Revolution, specifically the Mayor Nathaniel Mitchell Chapter. Her presence enriched the lives of many, and she found immense joy in her role as "Granny Sue" to London, Lyric, Brooklyn, Cayla, and Jayden.

Suzanne is survived by her loving mother, Kay M. Dill; her sister, Tamara D. Yannitto, along with Tamara’s husband Loren G. Yannito of Smithmill, Pennsylvania; her devoted life partner of 39 years, Vaughn Dickerson of Milton; her nephew, Robert C. Rust of Wilmington, Delaware; and her step-nieces, Natalie Hockenberry and Michelle Lego, both of Altoona, Pennsylvania. She was predeceased by her father, W. Graham Dill III.

A visitation to honor Suzanne’s memory will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Zion United Methodist Church, located at 26707 Broadkill Road, Milton, Delaware. This will be followed immediately by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary.

Suzanne Dill’s life was marked by her indomitable spirit, heartfelt kindness, and the deep connections she cultivated with her family and friends. Her legacy of courage and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

The services are respectfully entrusted to Short Funeral Services in Milton, Delaware. Online condolences may be shared at www.shortfuneralservicesandcremation.com
