Sofia Aguilera

Sofia Aguilera, 60, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, surrounded by loved ones.

Sofia was born on September 19, 1963, in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to the late Lazaro and Margarita Aguilera.

Sofia was a devoted member of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Georgetown. She was always outgoing and involved in the lives of those around her. She loved birthday parties and quinceaneras and could always be found near the dance floor. She was full of life and always had smile on her face.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Lazaro Aguilera, Jr.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Eric Medrano (Elizabeth), Esau Medrano (Emily), Saul Medrano, Jr., and Joshua Medrano (Catalina); her siblings, Sergio Aguilera, Clara Virrueta, Nancy Sanchez, Corina Leal, and Maria Thomas; her three grandchildren, Kaia Medrano, Landen Medrano, and Sophia Medrano; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 5pm-8pm in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St. Georgetown, DE 19947. A second viewing will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023, from 10am-11am in the sanctuary of St. Michael the Archangel Church, 202 Edward St. Georgetown, DE 19947. The funeral Mass will begin at 11am. Interment will take place at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton.
