Sallie Ann (Mitchell) Conaway, age 85, of Georgetown, born January 5, 1940, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025.
Sallie was born in Georgetown: the daughter of Herman and Bertie Mitchell. She loved sewing, doing crafts, watching birds and other wildlife in her backyard, as well as, crocheting baby blankets. In addition, she liked cooking, baking, and canning and freezing vegetables for her family. Family was the most important to her; family was her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of almost 63 years (3 months shy of) Franklin D. Conaway, Sr.; sisters Dorothy Morris (John), Ellen Todd (Herald), Louise Conaway (Russell), and Norma Talley; brother-in-law Richard James; father-in-law Charles Conaway mother-in-law Edna Conaway, sisters-in-law Bertha Davis (Bill) and Mary Ellen Carey (Joe).
She is survived by: four children, Charles Conaway (Karen), Frank Conaway, Jr. (Becky), Bruce Conaway (Kippi), and Lori Hudson (Jim); one sister, Dolly James; her brothers-in-law William Conaway (Regina) and Andy Talley.
She is further survived by her grandchildren, Frank Conaway III (Summer), Jason Powell (Gina), Daniel Conaway (Lindsey), Gwen Conaway, Dylan Conaway, Cori Banning (Fabricio); nine great grandchildren, Savannah Conaway, Hunter Conaway (Samantha), Mason Brooks, Collin Conaway, Kayleigh Conaway, Ellie Conaway, Mackenzee Banning, Colton Conaway, Cooper Conaway, and Harley Ann Conaway; a great-great grandchild, Colson Conaway; step-granchildren, Brooke Phillips (Richard) and Deborah Wright (Danny); step great grandchildren, Chloe Kondash (Michael), Penny Phillips, Ryan Thomas (Kelly), and Matt Thomas; step great-great grandchildren Michael Roderick, Lilliana Roderick, Harlie Palowski, Blake Palowski, Bennett Thomas, and Brynlee Thomas; as well as many nieces, nephews, and many other extended family members.
She was deeply loved and care for by her family.
A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 11am-12pm, with a funeral service beginning at 12pm, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St. Georgetown, DE 19947. Interment to follow at Union Cemetery in Georgetown.
