Rose Anne Brooks, 83, of Milford, Delaware, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, at the Delaware Hospice Center. Born on May 22, 1942, in Henderson, Maryland, Rose led a life dedicated to family and community, leaving a lasting legacy of love and support.
Rose graduated from Milford High School in 1961, where she was a well known athlete and band majorette. It was at the Thanksgiving football game during her senior year that she first saw at a distance her future husband, Owen S. Brooks, Jr. It was a storybook romance. She pointed him out to a friend who also knew him, and that friend offered to intervene. Rose married Owen on July 23, 1961. They were married for 63 years.
Rose was a member of the Calvary Church in Milford. She worked as a medical secretary for Dr. Abdelgaffar Awayes, Dr. Douglass Miller, and finally at the Dickinson Medical Group where she retired. She was known for her unwavering commitment to those around her. Rose took great pride in her roles, both at work and at home. She was a supportive wife to her husband, Owen, of whom she took excellent care, and actively engaged in her children's and grandchildren's lives.
Rose was a renowned presence at her grandchildren's sporting events. Her proudest accomplishments include coaching Pop Warner cheerleading and serving as a Brownie mom and leader. She supported her husband, who dedicated 50 plus years to coaching at Milford Little League, by attending every game and often stepping in to help when needed.
In her leisure time, Rose enjoyed tending to her flowers, taking care of her home, and lounging by her pool. She found joy in life's simple pleasures and shared those moments with family, friends, and her beloved dog, Zuma.
Rose is survived by her loving husband, Owen S. Brooks, Jr., her son Dion Brooks and wife Kim, her daughter Diane Revel and husband Mark, and her daughter Dana Spruill and husband Wes. She was blessed with grandchildren Anthony, Derrick, Meghan, Mallory, Ashley, and Alexis, as well as great-grandchildren Karli Rose, Owen Max, Nolan, and Sebastian.
She was preceded in death by her parents Hackett Kinnamon and Elsie (Alexander) Urie, her stepfather Kenneth Urie, and her infant daughter Dina Rose Brooks.
