IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roger Joseph
Bickel III
September 18, 1960 – March 14, 2026
Memorial Service
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Roger Joseph Bickel III, who left this world on Saturday, March 14th, 2026 after a very long and courageous battle with heart complications and many other medical problems. For many, many years he fought through the challenges that came with his health, showing strength and resilience even during the hardest moments.
Roger was a man who touched many lives throughout his journey. He was known for his strong spirit, his ability to make people laugh (especially on their worst days), and the way he could bring a special kind of comfort in conversations wherever he went. Those who knew him will remember the special moments shared with him, the stories, the laughter, and the memories that will forever live on through everyone who loved him.
His love and devotion to his mother has always been unwavering. He held her very close to his heart, cherishing every conversation, every visit, and every moment they shared. She has been a constant source of love, strength, and support in his life. (We see where he gets it from.)
He shared a part of his life with Mary Bickel, with whom he had his children, Amber, Roger, Cheyenne, and Dominic. Though their paths separated many years ago, they remained connected through the family they created together. The family he made he deeply loved and was always proud of. Above all, being a father meant the world to him. The love he had for his children was unwavering, and the memories they shared will forever remain in their hearts forever and always!
He leaves behind his mother Doris Gilman; his children Amber Sauman, Roger Bickel III (Courtney Bickel), Cheyanne Bickel (Marcus Stanley), Dominic Bickel, and Sarah Stelmack; his siblings Gregory Bickel, Wayne Bickel, Robin Burns (Gene Burns), Sharrie Rowe (Paul Rowe), and Kimberly Sacchi (Steven Sacchi).
And many nieces and nephews as well: Kevin, Adam, Wayne, Avery, Monica, Steven, Blake, Vanessa, Zayden, Cody, Edgar, Brooke, Adrian, and Elaina, Easton, Vanessa, and many more loved ones.
He precedes in death along with his “Nan and Pop” Dorothy and Edgar Wayne Brooks; his father Roger Joseph Bickel Jr.; his uncle David Brooks; his siblings Rayann Brooks and Frederick “Fuzzy” Bickel; and his niece Candace Sacchi and nephew Nicholas Bickel.
A memorial service will be held at Discover Church, located at 406 S. Bedford St., Georgetown, DE 19947, on Saturday, March 21st, 2026, beginning at 2:00 PM and will have a luncheon afterwards and anyone who knew and loved Roger is welcome to attend.
