Robert A. Draper Sr. passed away on August 24, 2025, at Bayhealth Sussex Hospital. He was born on October 12, 1939, in Farmington, Delaware, to the late John Addison and Anne Draper. He dedicated over 40 years of his career to Riechhold Chemical Company, embodying the value of hard work.
A beloved husband, Robert is survived by his wife, Alma Draper. Together, they nurtured a close-knit family. He will be deeply missed by his children: Robert Draper II and his wife Suzanne, Anne Draper, Patty Deputy and her husband Carl, Faith Frey and her husband John, and Shirley Lane and her husband Rick; his brother, Ronald Draper of Felton. He cherished his role as a father and took great pride in his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with his nieces, nephews and cousins, who will fondly remember him for his hard work and devotion.
Robert began playing the clarinet in high school that joy of music continued as he became the president of the Lake Forest Band Boosters, where he inspired many children to embrace their musical talents. He was instrumental in Lake Forest Band becoming involved in the TOB Competitions. His gardening skills were evident as he cultivated a variety of vegetables and raised rabbits, all while enjoying his time spent working on the farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anne Draper, whose legacy of love and guidance remained with him throughout his life.
Robert A. Draper Sr. leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to family and community. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
