Richard D. Jester Sr., a member of the Milford community, passed away on September 10, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on August 20, 1943, in Milford, Delaware, Richard dedicated much of his life to his work, retiring as an electrician from DuPont Co. in Seaford, Delaware. His professional accomplishments were paralleled by his steadfast commitment to his community, country and family.
Richard proudly served in the Army, demonstrating a dedication to his country that was revered by those around him. A lifetime member of the Carlisle Fire Company, he was deeply involved in service to others, reflecting commitment to helping his neighbors.
Outside of his professional and service commitments, Richard had a passion for hobbies that brought him joy. He enjoyed camping with family and friends. He also took great pleasure in collecting Hess trucks and David Bradley tractors, taking pride in restoring and fixing them up to their former glory.
Richard was married to his late wife, Shirley Jester, who preceded him in death in 2020. He was also preceded in death by his brother Fred Jester. He is survived by his three sons: Richard Jester and Renee, Eugene and Sarah Jester, and Kevin Jester. Richard was a brother to Jimmy Jester and treasured son to his parents, Edward and Helen Jester. He was also a proud grandfather to Richard Jester, Eric Jester, Amanda Fisher, Jesse Connelly, Colby Jester, and honorary granddaughters Pamela Pak and Erica Smith, and a devoted great-grandfather to Damian Jester, Ryden Jester, Jack Jester, Kai Fisher, Leo Fisher, Henry Kelm and Kennedy Kelm.
A visitation in his honor will take place on September 20, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Carlisle Fire Hall located at 615 Northwest Front Street, Milford, DE 19963. This will be followed by a funeral service and fireman's honors at the same location at 1:00 PM. Interment to follow at Milford Community Cemetery in Milford, Delaware.
Richard D. Jester Sr. will be remembered for his kindness, service, and love for his family, leaving a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
