Nancy A. Smith, age 70, of Ellendale, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 9, 2026, after a short battle with leukemia. She was born in Wilmington and was one of five children of the late George E. and Doris A. Foster. A graduate of Christiana High School, Nancy took great pride in being a caregiver to her daughter, Amber, who has cerebral palsy. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and was always willing to help anyone in need, whether person or animal.

Nancy is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Laskowski (Tom) and Amber Smith; her stepsons, Tommy Hurst and Josh Hurst; her beloved grandchildren, Thomas and Hayden Laskowski and Nathan and Benjamin Hurst; her siblings, Carolyn Krah (Raymond) and Daniel Foster (Elizabeth); and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by the love of her life, Thomas Hurst; her sister, Shirley Foster; her brother, Richard Foster; and Richard’s wife, Christine.

A visitation will be held Monday, March 16, 2026, at 11:30 AM at Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, DE 19963, followed by a short prayer service at 12:00 PM. Burial will take place at Ellendale Cemetery, with a reception to follow.
