Mrs. Nancy Heydt Onusko, age 89, passed away on Thanksgiving Day on November 27, 2025, surrounded by her family at her home. She was married to Dr. Charles W. Onusko for 50 years; he passed on December 8, 2012.
She is survived by her 3 children, sons: John (wife Dale) and Michael (wife Angie), and daughter Pamela Robichaud (husband Max). She has 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; and a sister-in-law Katherine Haines of Allentown, PA.
She was the daughter of the late Mrs. Emma Steigerwalt Shaffer and Edwin Shaffer of Bethlehem, PA; deceased as well are her four brothers: Stanley, Edwin, Roy, and Wilmer Shaffer all of Bethlehem, PA. Surviving, she has 1 brother Clayton Shaffer of Bethlehem, PA; 4 sisters: Bertha Grobe, Betty Kiefer, Milly Landenslager, and Virginia Balliet all of Bethlehem and Allentown, PA.
Nancy attended Bethlehem Schools. She was a Brownie and Girl Scouts Leader in Scranton, PA for 8 years. She was also known for her oil paintings and won many national competitions. She played the piano and was also known for her radiant smile. Nancy was an LPN in PA and DE for 48 years. She worked at Good Shephard Home, Allentown State Hospital, and Delaware Nursing Homes. She loved helping anyone who needed it.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 1pm-3pm at Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St. Milford, DE 19963. The following day on Monday, December 8, 2025 at 1pm, graveside services will be held at St. Mary's Ukrainian Church Cemetery in Allentown, PA.
