Nancy “Lynn” Kennedy
June 7, 1949 – May 29, 2025
Nancy “Lynn” Kennedy, 75, of Clayton, DE, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025. She was born on June 7, 1949, in Gainesville, GA, to the late Rev. F. Dean and Dorothy “Dot” Price. Lynn spent her childhood in Miami, Florida, alongside her sister, Joy, where she enjoyed running, riding her bike, and spending time outdoors with friends.
Lynn graduated from Castleberry High School in Fort Worth, TX, in 1967, where she developed her love for music, particularly as an accomplished pianist. Her love for music remained throughout her life, even as she faced challenges that made playing the piano difficult later on. It was during high school at Castleberry Baptist Church that she met Don Kennedy, who would eventually become her husband. In the fall of 1967, Lynn enrolled at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO, to pursue a degree in Missions, a path that would shape her life and faith. She and Don were married on July 11, 1969, in Houston, TX, beginning a marriage that lasted 56 years. Together, they served the Lord faithfully in countless ways, from youth ministry to pastoring, leaving a lasting impact on everyone they encountered.
Lynn’s passion for music was shared with her family, and she loved to sing alongside her parents, sister, and daughters. A dedicated educator, she taught for 36 years at schools in Milford and New Castle, Delaware, and Clearwater, Kansas, shaping the lives of many students. Lynn also found fulfillment in coaching volleyball, leading youth programs, teaching Sunday school, and singing in the church choir—her dedication to service was evident in everything she did.
Her love for Jesus Christ was unwavering, and she made it her mission to point others toward His grace. Lynn led many to Christ throughout her life and cherished every opportunity to share her faith. Her deep love for her family was evident to all who knew her. She adored her husband, daughters, and grandchildren, and her heart was full of love for everyone she met.
Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. F. Dean and Dorothy “Dot” Price. She is survived by her beloved husband, Don Kennedy, who lovingly cared for her in her final years; her daughters, Melody (Mark) Unruh and Jennifer (Matt) Burrows; her sister, Joy (Don) Williams; and her cherished grandchildren, Alyssa Unruh, Madison Burrows, Mackenzie (London) Dennis, Ethan Burrows, and Bryce Unruh.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, June 8, 2025, in the sanctuary of Eastern Shore Bible Baptist Church, 13984 Gregg Neck Road, Galena, Maryland, 21635, to celebrate Lynn’s life and the impact she made on so many. A time of visitation will be held for family and friends beginning at 1:30pm. Burial will immediately follow in the adjoining cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Gideons International through Eastern Shore Bible Baptist Church, in her honor.
