Michael Earl Bywaters passed away on September 7, 2026, at his home in Georgetown, one day after his 75th birthday. He will be remembered as a determined man, resolute in the way he wanted things done, yet also kind, welcoming, and deeply caring toward others. He loved people and would do anything for anyone, leaving behind the memory of a life marked by hard work and generosity.
Michael was a proud Army veteran. He also built a long and meaningful career through his own business, Bywaters Ceramic Tile and Marble. Over 40 years in the industry, he devoted himself to his craft and took great pride in the work he did. He loved to work, and that dedication was evident in the reputation he built and in the lasting impression he made on those who knew him through his profession.
Outside of work, Michael found joy in many simple pleasures. He enjoyed cars and motorcycles and especially liked attending car shows. He also enjoyed crabbing and cheering on the Orioles baseball team. At home, he took great care of his lawn, earning the affectionate nickname “lawn boy” from his wife, Kathy. These interests reflected both his energy and the pride he took in the things he loved.
Above all, Michael’s life was rooted in family. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Bywaters. He is also survived by his children, Michael, Melissa, Patricia, Tina, Angela, Keith, and Jared. He is further survived by his sisters, Linda and Cheryl. He will be missed deeply by sixteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. His family will carry forward the memory of his strength, his steady presence, and the love he showed in both word and deed.
A graveside service will be held on September 10, 2026, at 12:00 noon at Henlopen Memorial Park, 28787 Lockerman Road, Milton, Delaware 19968.
Michael Earl Bywaters will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
