Mary Betty Jenkins, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, at the age of 90.
Mary was born on September 27, 1935, in Lewes, Delaware, to the late Henry S. Clark and Alice Magee Clark. She later made her home in Milford, Delaware, where she devoted her life to her family and the people she loved.
Mary was married to the late Clarence E. Jenkins. She took great pride in caring for her family and creating a loving home. Her family was at the center of her life, but the love she gave extended far beyond her home.
Mary was a loyal member of her church for 52 years. She loved sharing her love of Jesus with others and was well known for giving the best—and most—hugs. She had a wonderful sense of humor that she shared freely with her family and friends, bringing laughter and joy to those around her. Her kindness, strength, faith, and devotion to others will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Mary is survived by her beloved children, Tammy and Bill Hewett and Henry E. Jenkins (Vickie); Carol Thompson, who was like a daughter to her; and her cherished grandchildren, Daniel Hewett (Christa), Nathan Hewett (AmerRae), and Chloe Fields (Tristan).
Mary will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her memory will live on through the family she loved so dearly, the faith she shared, the laughter she brought, the countless hugs she gave, and the many lives she touched throughout her 90 years.
May she rest peacefully beside her beloved husband, Clarence, and may her memory forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
A funeral service celebrating Mary's life will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at noon, at First Baptist Church, 6062 Old Shawnee Road, Milford, Delaware 19963. A time of visitation will begin at 11am. Following the services, a burial will be held at Henlopen Memorial Park in Milton, Delaware.
Family and friends are welcome to come together to remember, honor, and celebrate Mary's life.
