Obituary

Lynn Dexter, born Lynn Shuman on July 28, 1947, peacefully departed this life on February 10, 2026, at Beebe Hospital in Lewes, Delaware. She leaves behind a rich legacy filled with love, compassion, and dedication to her family and community.

Lynn, began her professional journey as a teacher, where she instilled knowledge and values in her students. Her career transitioned into homemaking, a role she embraced with passion as she nurtured and cared for her two beloved children, Jennifer Diep and Jason Dexter. She took immense pride in being a devoted mother, always placing her family's welfare above all else, setting a wonderful example for Jason to find a similar spirit in his wife, Heather. Her love extended warmly to her grandchildren – Alice, Sylvia, Charles, Titus, Priscilla, and Philemon Dexter – who were a source of great joy throughout her life.

In addition to her familial commitments, Lynn was a founding member of Eagle's Nest Fellowship Church in Milton, Delaware. Her faith in Christ was central to her life, and she actively participated in the church community, sharing her beautiful voice by singing in the choir. Her hobbies included gardening, where she enjoyed growing flowers, plants, and food, showcasing her nurturing spirit in both her personal life and her connection to nature.

Lynn will be remembered by her loving husband, Stephen Dexter, with whom she shared over 50 years of marriage. She is also survived by her brother, Leigh Shuman and his wife Kathleen, niece Susanna Wieborg, and nephew Thomas Shuman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Sylvia (Swartley) Shuman, who she was very close with. Their guidance, faith and love shaped the remarkable person she became.

A memorial service to honor Lynn's life will be held at Eagle's Nest Fellowship Church, on February 21, 2026, starting at 2:00 PM. The family invites all those who knew and loved Lynn to join them in celebrating her life, her faith and cherished memories of her.

Lynn Dexter’s legacy of kindness, faith, and family devotion will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
