Louise E. Workman

Louise Elizabeth Workman graced our world with her presence on September 7, 1916, in Salisbury, Maryland. Raised in the picturesque surroundings of Prime Hook, Delaware, Louise embodied a spirit of resilience and hospitality that touched the lives of many.

After graduating from Milford High School, she united her life with that of her beloved husband, “Doc.” Together, they cultivated both their farming business and a cherished partnership in Milton, Delaware. Emanating warmth and compassion, she also served the community as a dental hygienist under Dr. Reece Swain in Georgetown, Delaware, where she dedicated several years to the well-being of her patients.

Louise lived an inspiring 109 years, delightfully weaving her story alongside family and friends. She is survived by her devoted niece, Mary Ann Crosley, who served as her primary caregiver for the past decade. Louise’s legacy continues through her four grandchildren—Randy Reynolds and Rocky Reynolds of Milton, Delaware; Nicole Irish (Craig) of Estero, Florida; and Amanda Lowry (Frank) of North Carolina—as well as her granddaughter-in-law, Pam Walpole (Keith) of Milton, Delaware.

The love Louise shared extended to her great-grandchildren: Jordan Reynolds (Crystal), Casey Reynolds, Dylan Reynolds, Colby Reynolds (Erin), Morgan Mackle (Josh), Taylor Irish, Briar Reynolds, Aoife Lowry, and Atlas Lowry. Her heart also knew the joy of great-great-grandchildren, including Emma, Jacob, Ada, Elizabeth, Wesson, and Hank. Furthermore, she was surrounded by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who cherished her deeply.

Louise's journey through life was not without its losses. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 62 years, Willard Harold Workman, her parents, Wilbur and Mary Davis, and her beloved children: daughter Sandra Elizabeth Reynolds (and husband Gerald L. Reynolds) and son Willard Allyn Workman. Additionally, she endured the heartache of losing siblings Muriel Baker, William Davis, and Joseph Davis, along with her great-grandson Jacob Lee Reynolds.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the multitude of caregivers whose dedication allowed Louise to remain in the comfort of her home during her final years. In lieu of flowers, they kindly request donations be made to AMEDISYS Hospice Foundation in honor of her extraordinary life.

Louise Elizabeth Workman will forever be remembered fondly for her strength and commitment to her family and friends. Her remarkable journey on earth enriches our memories and inspires our lives, as we celebrate the legacy she leaves behind.
