Linda Lou Wilson

Linda Lou Wilson (Mitchell), 74, passed away on February 5, 2026. Born on July 14, 1951, in Millsboro, Delaware, she was the daughter of the late George Mitchell and Margaret Mitchell (Leggs). Linda spent her life rooted in Sussex County and resided in Georgetown, Delaware.

She was preceded in death by her siblings George “Wally” Mitchell, Grace Arvey, Dorothy Ann Melson, Gregory Mitchell, and Marshall Mitchell.

Linda is survived by her loving husband, Horace Glenwood Wilson; her daughter, Carol Ann Wilson (Rodney Wilson Sr.); and her cherished grandchildren, Rodney Wilson Jr. and Colby Wilson (Alexis Wills). She is also survived by her sisters, Norma Jean Hastings and Sharon Eaton, and her sister-in-law, JoAnn Mitchell, along with many extended family members and friends.

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Linda was the matriarch of the stubbornness that runs through her family, a trait balanced by the kindest, most caring heart one could know. Fiercely devoted to her family, she was their steady presence and quiet strength. She especially enjoyed spending time with “the girls” and keeping up with all the happenings, always making sure she knew what was going on in the lives of those she loved.

After retiring, Linda found great joy traveling the country with her grandchildren as they showed their goats. She loved being part of the journey—whether cheering from the sidelines, lending a helping hand, or helping raise bottle baby goats at home. These moments, spent side by side with her grandchildren, were some of her happiest.

A memorial service will be held Friday, February 13, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Short's Funeral Home in Georgetown, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Linda’s love and unwavering devotion to her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered. She poured her heart into her grandchildren, and they will carry her spirit, lessons, and stubbornness with them for the rest of their lives.
