Judith "Judy" L. (Ellner) Sands

MILTON – Judy (Ellner) Sands passed peacefully on September 26, 2025, following a long illness.

Judy was originally from Holden, Massachusetts and graduated from Wachusett High School in 1965. She attended Upsala College in East Orange, NJ, graduating with a degree in business administration. In February 1970 she married Neil Sands, also an Upsala graduate, and resided in Pequannock NJ before they moved to Milton, Delaware in 2009. She and her husband were also active members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pompton Plains NJ for over 30 years.

Judy was employed as a tax preparer for H&R Block in both the Wayne, NJ office and later the Milton, Delaware office. She had exceptional talent in needlecraft and was admired by many for her creations. Judy was well liked by friends and neighbors, who enjoyed her easy-going manner and sense of humor. Her commonsense approach to living will be missed by family and friends.

She leaves behind her husband of 55 years, Neil, her son Erik, her daughter Bethany, daughter-in-law Kara, and 3 grandchildren.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 4, 2025, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton, De 19968.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.
