Judith Cornett Abbott, a cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend, departed this world on May 3, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on March 14, 1957, at Langley Airforce Base in Hampton, Virginia, Judith's life was a testament to love, kindness, and unwavering faith. At the time of her passing, she resided in Georgetown, Delaware, where she had built a life filled with devotion to family, community, and her faith.
Judith's presence was a beacon of love and warmth. She was deeply religious, finding strength and purpose in her Christian faith, which guided her life and actions. Her community involvement, especially her dedication to her church, was a reflection of her commitment to living a life of service and compassion.
Judith's greatest achievements were rooted in her roles as a loving and caring mother and wife. Her family was her pride and joy, and she poured her heart into nurturing and supporting them. Her love extended beyond her family to all creatures great and small, as she was an avid animal lover, always ready to lend a helping hand or a loving home to any animal in need.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Judith will remember her for her loving personality, her kindness, and her unyielding love. She was predeceased by her father, Kenneth Cornett Sr., and her brother, Kenneth Cornett Jr. Her legacy continues through her beloved family: her mother, Betty J Marrs; her sisters and their husbands Cheryl and Raymond Henry, Lisa and Anthony DiVanna, and Elizabeth and Mark Woolridge; her loving husband, Gerald Abbott; and her sons and spouses, Kenneth and Desire Matthews Sr. and Jeffrey and Stephanie Matthews.
In accordance with Judith's wishes, she will be cremated, and her ashes will be scattered alongside her father's at a time to be determined by her family. This gesture symbolizes her deep connection to her family and her wish to remain close to them even in her passing.
As we gather to celebrate Judith's life, we find comfort in the words of John 5:24: "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life." Judith's faith assures us that she has indeed crossed over into eternal life, embraced by the love she so freely shared with us all.
Judith's memory will forever remain in our hearts, a reminder of the beauty of a life lived with faith, love, and compassion.
