John Oran White, III

Ellendale – John Oran White, III, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, following a long battle with dementia.

John was born March 18, 1958, son of the late John Oran White, Jr., and Aliene (King) White Wise.

John was proud of his Sussex County heritage. He graduated from Georgetown High School in the Class of 1976 and, while in high school, enjoyed wrestling in the 123lb weight class.

John loved to stay busy. He worked for many years with Friendly Farm Furniture, Atlantic Screen, Reed Trucking where he washed trucks, and lastly, Allen’s Poultry.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Lee White; his paternal great grandparents, Phebe Jane Hunter White and John Oran White, Sr.; paternal grandparents, John Oran White, Sr., and Helen Berry White; maternal grandparents, Lloyd King, and Mary Joines King; sister-in-law, Kay White; brother-in-law, Bill Lawson; and aunt, Wanda White.

He is survived by his son, Justin White; three siblings, Pat Lawson, Donald White, and Jeff White (Kelly); nieces and nephews, Abby, Kaylin, Jeff, Brittany, Riana, Justin, Glen, and Hunter; as well as a host of extended family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone that was of help to John during his dementia battle, especially his friend Quincy, and the staff at Bayhealth Kent Campus and Delaware Hospice.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the Hebron MP Church Cemetery, 18282 Seashore Highway, Georgetown, De 19947.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcome to the Hebron MP Church, of which John was always supportive, and can be mailed to the church trustee, Pat Lawson, 24438 Reynolds Pond Road, Milton, De 19968.
