Janet Virginia Lane, a devoted family member and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, at Bayhealth Sussex Hospital in Milford, Delaware, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 19, 1936, in Milford, Delaware, Janet was known for her warmth and kindness.
Janet attended the Union Street Meeting House Church in Milton, DE. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and a member of the Milford Senior Center. She was a longtime employee of Litton Industries in Frederica, Janet contributed significantly to her workplace and was respected by her colleagues. Outside of her career, she found joy in various hobbies, including traveling, reading, basking in the sun at the beach, doing word puzzles, watching her favorite tv game shows, and bargin shopping. Janet had afondness for poodles and she often spoiled hers, showering them with affection and love. She was noted for her home interior decorating and stylish fashion.
She is survived by her siblings: Jesse Webb and his wife Joyce, Terrence Webb and his wife Dianne, Carol Apgar and her husband Michael, and Mary Xava Kaye and her husband James. Janet also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Jerry Lane, and her parents, Walter Webb and Lilly Voss Hammond.
A memorial service to honor Janet's life will be held on October 18, 2025, at the Union Street Meeting House Church located at 415 Union Street in Milton, Delaware. The service will begin at 2:00 pm providing family and friends an opportunity to gather, share memories, and celebrate the beautiful life she lived.
Janet Virginia Lane will be deeply missed. Internment will be private and held at a later date.
