Obituary

Isaac "Mike" Short, born on December 7, 1940, in Milford, Delaware, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, in his hometown of Milford.

Among his proudest moments was serving in the United States Air Force, a commitment to his country that exemplified his dedication and sense of responsibility.

Returning to his beloved Delaware, Mike found his calling in sharing his passion for the outdoors with others. He became the owner of a bait and tackle shop, where his knowledge of fishing and his warm smile made him a fixture in the lives of fellow anglers and newcomers alike.

Mike was happiest with a fishing rod in hand. Rain or shine, he could be found down at the water, living out his love for fishing every single day. His passion for the sport inspired those around him, forging friendships that lasted decades.

In addition to his love for the outdoors, Mike was a devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves, with a particular fondness for player Eddie Matthews. He followed each season faithfully, delighting in every home run and hustling play, and shared this enthusiasm with those lucky enough to watch a game by his side.

He is survived by his nephew Christopher Short, his nephew Howard Joseph, and his niece Michelle Bunce.

Details regarding memorial services will be announced by the family at a later date.

Services are in the care of Short Funeral Services in Georgetown, Delaware. Online condolences may be shared at www.shortfuneralservicesandcremation.com
