Irene H. Elliott, a cherished matriarch and lifelong resident of Georgetown, Delaware, passed away on October 27, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on April 2, 1933, in Georgetown, she was a kind, loving, family-oriented woman whose generous spirit touched the lives of many.
Irene dedicated a substantial part of her life to her career as a bank teller for Mellon Bank, where she served her community with commitment and grace. Her work was a reflection of her character—meticulous, warm-hearted, and devoted. Beyond her professional life, Irene found joy in the simple pleasures, whether it was solving word puzzles, enjoying a game of bingo, or crocheting beautiful creations. However, it was the time spent with her family that brought her the greatest happiness.
In her heart, she held a special place for her daughters, Darlene West and Jo Anne Jackson (Gary), who were her pride and joy. Irene's legacy lives on through her family, including her sister, Annie Parker, three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Each of them carries forward the values of love and kindness that Irene instilled in them.
Irene has joined those who have passed before her, including her beloved husband, Greensbury "Joe" Elliott Jr., who left this world in 2014, her parents, Sarah Agnes West and Gordon P. Henry, and her great-grandson, Alan Scott West. Though they are no longer with us, their memories remain a guiding light for her family.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Irene's life at Short Funeral Services in Georgetown, DE. Visitation will be held on November 3, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 1:00 P, after which Irene will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations toward the funeral expenses.
