Hilda M. Betts

MILTON – Hilda M. Betts, 97, passed away peacefully under Hospice care at Christiana Hospital Saturday, June 14, 2025.

Hilda was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with family and friends, organizing her home, and coloring. She attended Grace Church of Milton.

Like many Miltonians of her time, Hilda worked in the hosiery mill. Eventually, she moved into sales for F.W. Woolworths in Milford, DE where she retired after many years of employment.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harry J. Betts. Jr.

She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Brenda Coverdale and husband James R. Coverdale; her granddaughters, Wendy and Regina Coverdale; and nephews, as well as extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 1:00pm, with a time of visitation starting at noon. Burial will be held at Henlopen Memorial Park, 28787 Lockerman Road, Milton, immediately following the service.

Family suggests memorial gifts, in lieu of flowers, be made to Grace Church, 514 Union St., Milton, Del 19968.
