Harvey G West Jr.

Harvey G West Jr. of Georgetown passed away, on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Delaware Bay Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. He was 71.

Harvey was the son of the late Harvey & Mary (Middleton) West Sr.

Harvey proudly served his country honorably and faithfully in the United States Army for 14 years during the Vietnam War flying 32 missions. After coming home, he enlisted in the Delaware National Guard serving as a recruiter. He was a member of Virgil Wilson VFW Post 4961.

In addition, Harvey answered the call of duty in his community with the Georgetown Fire Company, serving as Assistant Chief and Vice President, and holding several offices. As well as the Georgetown Ambulance Station 93.

Harvey is survived by his daughter, Christina West; sister Bonnie Adams (Martin), Brothers Ronald West Sr. (Deborah), Edward West and Stevie West, He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Jacob, Adriana, and DJ; 3 nephews and a niece along with his best friend Ricky Hudson.

Along with his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his sister, Lisa West.

Services for Harvey with full Fireman’s Honors will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 12:00 pm at Short Funeral Services, Inc. 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown. Burial with military honors will take place in the Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 am-12:00 pm at the funeral home.
