Harry Wesley Aiken, Sr., 90, of Georgetown, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at his home.
Born November 16, 1934 in Barrington, NJ, Harry was the son of the late Clarence and May (Dolby) Aiken. He was the widow of his wife Dottie (Wharton) Aiken.
Harry served his country honorably and faithfully in the United States Army.
Harry was a 1953 graduate of Georgetown High School and worked for the Delaware Highway Department for over 30 years as a soil engineer. In his spare time, he spent many days fishing and hunting. He umpired sports at the beach. Additionally, he was a World Champion Surf Caster.
Harry is survived by his children, Harry “Buddy” Aiken II (Deborah) and Scott Aiken (Sandra) He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amanda, John, Scott Jr., Jessica, Samatha, and Tyler. As well as seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside Services for Harry with US Army Military Honors will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 10:00 am at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, DE.
Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation for Harry on Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Short Funeral Services, Inc., 609 East Market Street, Georgetown, DE. 19947.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Harry’s memory to Delaware Mobile Surf Fishing Club, PO Box 105, Harbeson, DE. 19951.
