Harold Richard Bunting, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather went to be with the Lord peacefully at home on Thursday, July 9, 2020. Harold was born on July 31, 1932, in Lewes, Delaware to the late Raymond and Florence Bunting. He graduated from Milford High School and proudly served our country in the United States Army as an Engineer in the Korean War from 1952 – 1954. He married the love of his life, Gwendolyn Miller, in 1956. They were blessed with 64 years of marriage. Harold retired from Reichold Chemical Plant in Cheswold, Delaware, after 38 years of service as a maintenance mechanic. After retirement he was employed by Jones (Atlantic) Refrigeration for 10 years. He then finally found his best job, “Retirement”. He was an avid family man and enjoyed hunting with his sons and nephews. He also enjoyed surf fishing and watching NASCAR, a fan of Bill Elliott. He was a member of The Grace Church of Milton for many years serving in many capacities. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 17 also in Milton. In addition to his parents, Harold is preceded in death by his two brothers, Ray Bunting and Roland Bunting; and step-sister, Dorothy Calhoun. He survived by his wife Gwendolyn; son, Daniel Bunting of Millsboro; son, Michael Bunting and wife Cindy of Milton; and daughter, Beverly Marvel and husband Phillip of Milton; sister, Rosalie Millman of Milford; three granddaughters, Katie (David) Chappell of Milton, Kelly (Mason) Moyer of Souderton, PA and Tori (Charlie) Feaster of Charlottesville, VA; five great grandchildren, Madelyn Moyer, Rylee Chappell, Joanna Moyer, Judah Chappell and Cassidy Moyer and a host of many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton, where a time of visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00am-1:00pm. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Those attending must wear a mask and adhere to gathering and social distancing protocols. The family would like to thank the staff of the Fresenius Medical Dialysis Care of Milford, where he was treated for 14 years, the staff of Season’s Hospice and Palliative Care of DE, Milton Lion’s Club, and multitude of family, friends and neighbors for their prayers, calls and cards. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations in memory of Harold R. Bunting to the National Kidney Foundation, 1301 York Road, Suite 209, Lutherville, MD 21093 or The Grace Church, 514 Union Street, Milton, DE.
