George Allen Adams

December 24, 1947 — November 18, 2025

George Allen Adams, born on December 24, 1947, to Edward and Aline Adams of Hardscrabble, Delaware, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025.

George shared a lifetime of devotion and partnership with his beloved wife, Eleanor Adams. The two graduated together from Georgetown High School in 1965 and were married in 1967, beginning a marriage marked by loyalty, hard work, and deep affection.

Known for his straight-spoken nature, sharp one-liners, and steady presence, George profoundly touched the lives of all who knew him. He carried himself with a quiet strength and an unwavering sense of generosity that left a lasting imprint on family, friends, and neighbors.

George is survived by his sister, Charline Baker; his son, Alphie Adams, and daughter-in-law, Emma Adams; and his cherished grandchildren, Keane, Oliver, and Phoebe, who filled his later years with immeasurable joy. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Dora George; nephews Travis and Devin George; and niece Renee Single.

He was preceded in death by his dear son, John L. "Heavy" Adams.

Following in the footsteps of his father, George began his career in earth-moving and turned that passion into a lifelong profession. As the proud owner of his own company, he worked with many of the largest contractors throughout Delaware. Over the decades, his skill, dedication, and craftsmanship helped shape the roads, neighborhoods, and landmarks of Sussex County and the broader Delmarva Peninsula. He generously shared his knowledge and love for the trade with his children and with countless others in the community.

Next to his family, George's greatest passion was racing—a fire he inherited from his father. For decades, he owned cars, sponsored drivers, and remained a beloved figure in the local racing world. Among the many drivers he supported were Jack Sapp, Kenny Brightbill, and Billy Pauch Jr., along with numerous others who shared his love for the sport.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Vitas Health Care for their exceptional care and support to George and his loved ones in his final days.
