MILFORD – Frederick M. Carlisle passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
Frederick was born and raised in Milford, son of the late Norman R. and Alice (Christopoulos) Carlisle. He served our country for 4 years during the Vietnam War Era and received an Honorable discharge from the US Army. He was Head Custodian for the Milford School District and retired after over 20 years’ service. After retirement, Frederick worked in maintenance with Milford Police Department. He also enjoyed volunteering with local food banks and pantry services for the homeless.
In his younger years, Frederick enjoyed basketball and soccer and more recently he loved crafting. He was an active member of Milford Church of the Nazarene and served as a youth minister.
In addition to his parents, Frederick is preceded in death by his grandson, Shawn Carlisle, and sister, Diana Wilson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Wanda (Ellingsworth) Carlisle; two children, Michael Carlisle and Jaime Cantu (Juan); eight grandchildren, Shawn Carlisle, Angelica Carlisle, Caitlin Hopkins (Bud), Alexus Robinson (Chance), Makhi Peacock, Tyler Carlisle (Hali), Trystin Carlisle, and Emerlyn Cantu; five great-grandchildren, CJ Robinson, Brooklynn Robinson, Journey Robinson, Nirvana Robinson, and Zeppelin Robinson; eight siblings, Sylvia Clauges, Alyce Kirby, Linda Potter, Melody Carlisle, Doris Phipps, Dale Carlisle, Randy Carlisle, and Norman Carlisle; his mother-in-law, Eleanor Ellingsworth; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Frederick will be laid to rest privately, with military honors, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Delaware Hospice in his honor at https://delawarehospice.org/give/ or by mail at 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. The family would like to thank the staff of Delaware Hospice for the excellent care he was given, allowing him to be cared for at home.
