Franklin Thomas Wright, a beloved husband, father, and brother, passed away peacefully at his home in Milford, Delaware, on July 31, 2025. Born on December 23, 1954, in Cheverly, Maryland, Franklin dedicated his life to service and family, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Franklin's career spanned several decades, culminating in his respected role as a correctional officer 1st lieutenant in the Delaware Department of Corrections. His unwavering commitment to integrity, respect, and dedication defined his professional life. Prior to this, he honorably served in the United States Army as a military police correctional officer, reaching the rank of Sergeant 1st Class. Throughout his military service, Franklin demonstrated patriotism and selflessness, values that he carried into every facet of his life.

Franklin’s journey took him to many places, including Korea, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Alaska, as he moved with his family due to his military commitments. Eventually, he retired to Delaware to begin his career with the Department of Corrections.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Franklin was immensely proud of his personal achievements, including earning a black belt in karate and taekwondo, showcasing his dedication to physical fitness and discipline. He enjoyed a variety of hobbies such as ballroom dancing and woodworking, which brought joy to him and those around him. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Milford. 

Franklin is remembered for his warm humor and stoic character, ensuring that laughter and kindness were always present in his interactions. He loved deeply – his family and his country were the cornerstones of his life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jeanne M. Wright; daughters Jennifer L. Wright-Burge and her husband Brian, and Nikki N. Evans and her husband Justin; son Franklin A. Wright; sister Sharon Reynolds; brothers Steven Wright and his wife Louise, and John T. Wright. He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren Tanner, Kelsey, and Brayden Burge, as well as Daphne and Willow Evans, and Lucas Wright. Franklin also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members, who will miss him dearly.

Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Wright Sr. and Shirley Lee Hickey; parents-in-law Leo J. and Elizabeth J. Golden; brother and sister-in-law Steven L. and Joanne L. MacMillan.

As we remember Franklin Thomas Wright, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and dedication to service. His legacy will continue to inspire those he touched throughout his remarkable journey.
