GEORGETOWN, Del – Frank J. Dzierzanowski, age 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at TidalHealth in Seaford, Delaware.
Frank was born in Plains, Pennsylvania, to the late Mary (Kubow) and Alex Dzierzanowski on August 28, 1929. He graduated from Plains High School in 1947, served as a Medical Laboratory Technician in the US Army, and received a B.S. in Chemistry from Rutgers in 1956.
In 1954, Frank married his dear wife of 66 years, Violet (Levay) Dzierzanowski, and raised a family in Somerset, NJ. Frank was an active member of Our Lady of Mercy Church, where he served as President of the Holy Name Society in the Diocese of Metuchen. Frank also played an integral role in church fundraising efforts and the restoration of the church roof. In 2019, he and his wife, Violet, made Delaware their home.
Frank worked in research for Engelhard Corporation for 36 years before retiring in 1992. His research led to numerous patents used in the production of gasoline and other commercial products. At the end of his career, Frank headed a group for material characterization whose research was utilized in the paint, paper, and catalyst industries. He was a member of the Clay Minerals Society, Catalyst Society of America, TAPPI, and American Chemical Society.
Frank is survived by his two children, Wayne Dzierzanowski, and Diane D’Ardenne (husband John); three grandchildren, Luke Dzierzanowski (significant other, Valery), David D’Ardenne, and Emily D’Ardenne.
Entombment will be held privately in New Jersey.
