Edwin Leon Sherman

Edwin Leon Sherman, of Delaware, passed away on August 29, 2026, at Bayhealth Sussex Campus. He was 94. He was born on October 10, 1931, in Harbeson, Delaware, to George Roy Sherman and Fannie D. Campbell.

Edwin built a life rooted in hard work and dedication. He worked at Bests Equipment as a mechanical technician, was employed at Otis Smith Fish Factory, and later worked for George Sherman Corporation from 1966 to 1993, giving 27 years of service there. Outside of work, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and, above all, spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Sherman; his son, Wayne Sherman; his grandson, Baron Vincent; his father, George Roy Sherman; his mother, Fannie D. Campbell; and his siblings, Irene Mitchell, George P. Sherman, James Sherman, Isabel Sturgis, and Howard Sherman.

Edwin is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Joseph and her husband, Harry, and Colleen Anderson and her husband, Allan. He also leaves his grandchildren Craig Anderson and his wife, Christine, Michelle Anderson and partner Mark Parkhurst, Eric Joseph and his wife, Katie, Clay Joseph and his wife, Kristin, Matthew Joseph, and Brian Sherman and his friend Nicole. His family continued to grow through the generations, and he is also survived by his great-grandchildren Lurana Johnson and fiancé Mike Walters, Gage Joseph, Kierstin Anderson, Mitch Joseph, Cora Joseph, Trig Joseph, Callie Joseph, John Sherman, and Page Sherman, as well as his great-great-grandchild, Layne. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Debra Sherman, and his brother-in-law Ernest Donovan and Dean Sherman.

Edwin will be remembered for the life he shared with those he loved and for the steady presence he gave to his family through the years. He will be sorely missed.
