Earl Vernon Yoder

March 22, 1948 — February 1, 2026

Earl Vernon Yoder, 77, of Harrington, Delaware, passed away on February 1, 2026.

Born in Greenwood, Delaware, Earl spent nearly his entire life in Harrington, a community he proudly called home. He served his country in the United States Navy, spending three years stationed overseas. Earl was a proud Vietnam veteran, and his military service remained one of the accomplishments he valued most. He carried deep pride in being an American and in the time he spent serving his country.

After returning home, Earl began his career as a carpenter, starting his own carpentry business that would remain his life’s work. He had a true passion for carpentry and woodworking, taking pride in his craftsmanship and the work he created with his hands.

Earl was known for his love of the outdoors and could often be found hunting, fishing, crabbing, or simply enjoying nature. He also loved gardening, especially growing vegetables. As early spring arrived each year, Earl could often be found ordering seeds and starting plantings of vegetables and flowers, already looking ahead to the growing season. He treasured the friendships he built while spending time at the Milford VFW and Harrington American Legion, where camaraderie, conversation, and laughter were an important part of his life.

Earl is survived by his daughter, Amanda Carmean, and her husband, Hal Carmean II; and his beloved grandchildren, Landon and Adee Carmean, who he adored. He is also survived by his sister, Treva Kurtz, and her husband, Sam Kurtz; his brothers, Jerome Yoder and Roland Yoder, and Roland’s wife, Dottie Yoder. As well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Bertha Yoder; his sisters, Ruby Esbenshade and Marilyn White; and his brother, Gerald Yoder.

A viewing will be held on March 27, 2026 from 11:30am to 12:30pm at Short Funeral Services in Georgetown, Delaware, with a memorial service immediately following. An Honor Guard presentation will take place at 2:00pm at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, Delaware.

Earl’s legacy of service, craftsmanship, love for the outdoors, and love for his family will be remembered always.
