Listen to Obituary

Douglas Ernest Fry, 91, passed away peacefully in his home on September 11, 2025.

Ern was born on February 6, 1934 in Milford, DE to Douglas and Marjorie Fry. After graduating high school, he served two years in the United States Army. After serving, he married Doris C. Fry and they celebrated 55 years together. They had three children, Mike, Jeff and Judy. Ern was a hardworking and dedicated family man. He spent his life working on his family farm, as well as owned and operated the Milford Bowling Lanes. He also served on the board of directors for Delaware Electric Co-op for many years. Ern had a passion for farming. He enjoyed working and passing on his knowledge of farming to his two sons and grandsons to continue to grow the farm. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed spending time with his family at their cottage on Slaughter Beach and family pool. In his later years, he spent his time visiting all the neighboring farms and sharing good ole “Ernie stories.” He was a well known and respected member of the community and will be missed.

Ern is survived by his son, Jeff Fry and his wife Karen; his daughter, Judy Killen and his daughter in law, Selena Fry; grandchildren, Jason Fry (Morgan), Chad Fry (Brittany), Brandy Blessing (Chris), Katie Killen (Tim), Cody Killen, Erin Fry (Guy), Jennifer Fry; 10 great grandchildren, Trent, Tripp and Taylee Fry, Ruby and Rylee Fry, Collin and Will Blessing, Briar Jones, Chase and Payten Riley; and his brother, Ralph B. Fry.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris C. Fry; and his son, Mike Fry. Ern also leaves behind his trusty dog companion, Missy.
