Donald Lee Slaughter

October 6, 1953 — June 5, 2025

Milton

Don was born in Milford, Delaware to Leon and Lorraine Slaughter. He was a graduate of Milford High School. Don made his career working for the Diamond State Telephone Co. and E.I. DuPont/INVISTA in Seaford, Delaware.

Don met his first love and wife, Gail, in the 60's while camping with their parents on the eastern shore of Virginia. Years later they met again in the 70’s and married.

Don enjoyed traveling with Gail to the Outer Banks, Florida, and scuba diving in Mexico and the Caribbean. They also spent time traveling the east coast and mid-Atlantic states. In the winter they enjoyed skiing in the Poconos and Catskills.

Don was an avid Yankees fan and traveled to New York to the Baseball Hall of Fame as well as many Yankees games. He also loved fishing and weightlifting.

Don will be sadly missed by his close friends and relatives. Don was preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine Slaughter; his father, Leon Slaughter and his beloved Labrador Retriever, Gunner. If you saw Don in his pickup, you saw Gunner riding along in the front seat.

Don is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years; his brother and wife, Bob and Theresa Slaughter; his son and wife, Mickey and Jamie Slaughter; and grandson, Loghan.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 11am-12pm, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton, DE 19968. Interment will be held privately.
