Davis E. Benson Sr.

Davis E. Benson Sr., 80, of Milford, Delaware, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, at the age of 80.

Born on July 15, 1946, in Milford, Delaware, Davis was a proud Delaware native and a dedicated veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a life member of the South Bowers Fire Company and served his community faithfully. He was a proud Vietnam veteran and was known for his patriotism and his active involvement in his community.

Davis worked for the State of Delaware in transportation as an inspector for much of his career. Outside of work and his service to others, he enjoyed attending car shows, working on cars, fishing, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. He loved his family dearly and took great pride in them.

Davis is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Jo Ann Benson; his son, Davis Benson Jr. and his wife Lianne; his siblings, Barbara Ann Dulin, and Kenneth Benson; and his grandchildren, Gaige Benson and Fletcher Benson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Davis and Beatrice Benson, and his brother, Roger Benson.

Davis will be remembered as a proud veteran, a devoted husband and father, a loving grandfather, and a man who cherished his family and his country. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026 at the Milford Community Cemetery. Military honors and interment will begin at 1:00 pm.
