It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Chester Frank Davis, 69, a beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, and unforgettable part of the Delaware beach community. Chester passed away surrounded by the love of his family.
Chester grew up in Georgetown, Delaware and later made his home in Rehoboth Beach, where he became a true local legend. For more than 40 years Chester was a bartender in Dewey and Rehoboth, where generations of locals and visitors came to know him. Behind the bar he had a way of making people feel welcomed, remembered, and right at home. His big personality, countless stories, humor, and familiar face became part of the beach town he loved.
Chet is preceded in death by his father, Louis Davis.
He is survived by his mother Patricia Davis, sister Penny, brother Jamie, his niece and nephews, Madison, Reilly, Kingston, and Grayson, along with the countless friends who will carry his memory with them.
If you knew Chet you probably knew the things he enjoyed most: golf, a cold Coors Light and a Grand Marnier. But more than anything Chester loved people and the life he built around them. His years behind the bar weren’t simply a job- they were a lifetime of friendships, conversations, laughter, and memories. Chester will be deeply missed, fondly remembered and forever a part of the Delaware beach community he called home. Rest easy Chester. Keep the fairways open, the Coors Lights cold and the Grand Marnier flowing. Legends don’t die. They Live forever. You will NEVER be forgotten.
A Celebration of Chester’s life will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 12:00pm in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown, De 19947; where a time of visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00am. Interment will be held privately at McColley’s Cemetery.
