Carol Lee Thomas of Georgetown passed away Sunday, November 30, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 86.
Carol was born at home in Georgetown, the daughter of the late Joseph F. and Ethel Jane (King) Murphy.
After graduating Valedictorian from Georgetown High School Carol started working at Arrow Safety Device before going into the Banking Industry for over 57 years. She worked at Farmers Bank, Wilmington Trust and M&T Bank. After retiring from banking Carol worked for Chardon Jewelers LTD under Charlie Koskey (Donna) whom she thought of as a son. Carol was a former member of the Democrat Club and served as Sunday School treasurer for many years. She was an avid reader and a patron of the Georgetown Public Library. Carol loved going to the beach, traveling, dancing, and listening to the Jones Boys. Carol’s favorite thing was spending time with her family, especially her grand and great grandchildren.
In addition to both parents Carol was preceded in death by her Godson Benjamin VanSciver.
Carol is survived by her loving husband Tim Thomas; daughter Kimberly Eye Ralph; sister Denice Murphy (Dawn); grandchildren; Jami Gordy (Brock), Casey Bernal (Eric) great grandchildren; Zoe Gordy, Jaxon Gordy and Gabriel Bernal. Godsons; Jon VanSciver (Cathy) and Dan VanSciver (Beth)
Visitation will be held from 1pm-2pm, Sunday January 4, 2026, at Wesley United Methodist Church 102 E. Laurel street, Georgetown, De followed by a Celebration of Life at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Tunnell Cancer Center 18947 John J. Williams Highway, suite 101 Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971
Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral services in Georgetown, Delaware.
