Brenda will be fondly remembered for her warmth, empathy, and steadfast commitment to those she loved.

Brenda A. Donovan, born on January 23, 1945, in Milford, Delaware, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026. Her life, shaped by dedication, compassion, and an enduring commitment to her family and community, leaves a profound legacy for all who knew her.

Brenda was the devoted daughter of the late Brantley and Barbara Donovan. She grew up in Milford, where she attended and graduated from Milford High School in 1963, beginning a lifelong journey marked by care for others and strong values grounded in her faith.

Throughout her career, Brenda devoted herself to the wellbeing of seniors, working tirelessly with services such as Meals on Wheels and the Nemours senior programs. Her professional work reflected her innate kindness and her passion for supporting those less fortunate. Brenda touched countless lives in her community, always seeking opportunities to uplift and assist others.

Her family meant the world to her. Brenda’s proudest accomplishments were her daughters, Melissa Greene and Mia Wright, whose lives have been enriched by her guidance, encouragement, and unwavering love. She found immense joy in witnessing her grandchildren—Emily Greene, Eryn Greene, Nickolas Wright, and Sydney Wright—grow into young adults, and in recent years, was blessed by the presence of her great-grandchildren: Ethan, Emma, Rafael. She was looking forward to the arrival of her fourth great grandchild in December.

Her life was an example of service, rooted in faith and expressed through acts of love, both great and small.

Brenda’s family circle was also graced by her sister, Beverly O'Day, and her brother-in-law, Louis O'Day. The losses of her late son-in-law, Scott Wright, and cherished friend, Jennalea Flanagan, were deeply felt, yet Brenda’s strength and gentle spirit carried her family forward.

Brenda will be fondly remembered for her warmth, empathy, and steadfast commitment to those she loved. She was a source of unwavering support for her daughters and grandchildren, a guiding presence whose caring nature made every gathering more meaningful. Her loving companionship with her pup, Ginger, provided daily joy and comfort; to Brenda, Ginger was not just a pet but a treasured friend.

Those closest to Brenda recall her kindness, her humble generosity, and her drive to help others without seeking recognition. Her life was an example of service, rooted in faith and expressed through acts of love, both great and small.

Friends and family are invited to honor Brenda’s memory at a viewing on Tuesday, August 25, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Berry-Short Funeral Home in Milford, located at 119 NW Front St, Milford, DE 19963. Following the viewing, a graveside service will be held at 1:15 PM at Milford Community Cemetery, located at 850 N. DuPont Boulevard, Milford, DE 19963.

As we remember Brenda A. Donovan, we reflect with gratitude on her life and the bonds she forged. Her compassionate legacy remains a guiding light for all who loved her, and her memory will be cherished always.
