Bert Gentry

Bert Gentry, 88 of Lynchburg, VA & formerly of Milford, DE passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on October 11, 1937 in Laurel Blommery, TN, as son of the late Milton J. Gentry and Chessie Severt Gentry.

He was in the HVAC Plumbing & Heating business for over 50 years and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He enjoyed fishing and being with family & friends and sharing his faith and what he believed.

Bert is survived by his wife, Lirlie Stephens Gentry; his children, Doug Gentry (Marybeth), Abby Chandler; Lirlie's children, James Richardson (Rita), Sherry Chenault, Donna Hobbs (Mark), Ronnie Richardson, Sean Richardson (Brittany), Jeffrey Richardson; several grandchildren & great grandchildren as well as two sisters, Sue Manuel (Harold), Ruby Hansen.

 Mr. Gentry was transported to Berry-Short Funeral Home in Milford, Delaware where funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 29, 2026, visitation one hour prior, Burial will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, DE.

 Local arrangements were handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
