Barrett (Barry) Collins passed away unexpectedly on December 11, 2025. Born on August 5, 1950, He dedicated himself to service, notably as a lifelong member of the Dover Fire Company and in his service in the Delaware National Guard. He was a salesman for Kent County Motors and Holden Dodge for many of his employment years. Barry was a Delaware native through and through, a quality that defined his loyalty and passions. This manifested in his avid devotion to the Philadelphia Eagles, cheering them on weekly with his cherished friends at the Green Stinger, Browns Tavern, or Grottos. And as a true Delawarean, he also knew how to bring people together, often doing so by joyfully singing "Sweet Caroline," during karaoke nights.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Collins, his beloved mother, Joan Collins, and brother Oakley Collins. He is survived by his four children, Nicole, Shannon, Andrew, and Megan, whom he never stopped loving. As well as his brother, Wallace Collins (Judy) of South Carolina, his two nieces, Karen and Terry; two close cousins Debbie Osika (Ray) of Magnolia, and Arlene Gordon of Dover, numerous nieces, nephews and second and third cousins. Barry's memory will also be cherished by his bonus children: Nathan, Ashley, Alyson, Amber, and their families, who will miss his laughter, lightheartedness and sweet demeanor.
A private service to honor the life of Barry Collins will be held at a later date.
