Andrew James Carey

Andrew James Carey of Georgetown passed away October 6, 2025. He was a brilliant, likeable and generous person. He proudly served in the Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz. He was on deck at the time of the tragic crash and fire that killed 14 sailors and injured 42 others. After this incident, Andy’s life was changed. Sadly, alcoholism took control of his life. This horrible disease isolates, separating families and causing pain to all it touches. Andy is finally at peace.

Andy was pre-deceased by his parents, William F. Carey and Adele L. Carey, and brothers John G. Carey and David A. Carey. He is survived by brother William F. Carey, Jr. and sisters Sharon Eypper, Terry Carey Kansak, and Sue Ellen Harper, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please remember Andy by a donation to the Shepherd’s Office, 408 N. Bedford Street, Georgetown DE. The organization always needs funds, but food donations are also very welcome.
